RALEIGH, N.C. — After a cool but milder week, temperatures will rise into the 60s for Christmas Eve before plummeting for Christmas Day.
WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said Thursday will be a very mild day, with a high around 63 degrees expected in Raleigh. Christmas Eve will also be the rainiest day of the week, with scattered showers likely throughout the day.
Some rain will continue into Christmas morning, and storms are possible, Gardner said, but the rain will be a mostly early-morning event. Rain should decrease throughout the morning, and Christmas won’t be a washout.
Temperatures will be in the upper 30s to low 40s by Friday afternoon and will fall quickly Christmas evening and overnight.
