RALEIGH, N.C. — Summer break could be cut short for some students in North Carolina this year.
A group of state lawmakers is considering giving school districts flexibility with their traditional school calendars, allowing them to start school two weeks earlier than current law states.
State law requires schools to start no earlier than the Monday closest to Aug. 26, but pending legislation would allow them to start as early as Aug. 10 and end the school year earlier as well.
