RALEIGH, N.C. — It’s time again for North Carolina’s governor to light the state’s Christmas tree, decorated with yuletide brilliance on the grounds of the old Capitol.

The free event starts in the late afternoon with luminaries, holiday music and refreshments. After the tree lightning, the 1840 Capitol building and the Executive Mansion will be open to the public to view their Christmas decor.
