RALEIGH, N.C. — People with pre-existing health conditions like high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes are often more vulnerable to getting seriously ill from COVID-19 – but they are not currently eligible for the vaccine.
However, WRAL News learned on Wednesday that state leaders are in conversations about accelerating the timeline for Group 4 one week early — as early as March 14.
Governor Cooper is expected to provide an update on the Group 4 vaccine timeline on Thursday at 3 p.m. Viewers can expect to hear whether or not people with pre-existing conditions can get vaccinations a week earlier.
Group 4 was originally scheduled to become eligible on March 24. However, this new information could mean tens of thousands of people with pre-existing conditions could have access to the vaccine even sooner.
